Wilson Health Foundation Ball Nets Over $33,500 for Hospital

Thursday, October 6, 2016 - 2:30pm

The Wilson Health Foundation celebrated the twenty-second ball with a “Whimsical Night” at The Crystal Room in Troy with 120 guests in attendance.

Including the 2016 proceeds of more than $33,500, total net of over $656,000 from this annual event has been raised for the Wilson Health Foundation’s general endowment fund to provide future funding for capital equipment and patient care needs.

Bonnie Faulkner, executive director of the Wilson Health Foundation, welcomed guests to the charity event stating, “This seems to again be a year of changes and is, in fact, bittersweet for me as tonight is the last time I will have the honor of welcoming our guests to this event.”  Faulkner continued, “It has been a wonderful experience and I would be remiss if I did not recognize and thank some very special people.  I most certainly could not have done it without them.”  Those she recognized included Deanna Kindell, Wilson Health Foundation Coordinator; Tom Boecker, former President and CEO of Wilson Memorial; and, her husband, Harry Faulkner for their help, support and encouragement during her career at Wilson.

Faulkner then recognized and introduced Tonya Thieman, chairwoman of the Wilson Health Foundation Board, and invited her to the podium to share her thoughts.              Thieman first extended her welcome and thanks to everyone for attendance and recognized past and present board members from both the Hospital and Foundation Boards.  Thieman then began her comments stating, “In 2015, total Foundation revenue of nearly $743,000 was achieved.  This figure included $394,000 raised through fund raisers and donations and nearly $350,000 from income on our investments.  We presently have $8.4 million in the Foundation’s endowment fund toward a goal of $50 million.”  She continued, “To date, over $14.6 million has been raised exclusively by the Foundation to benefit Wilson Health. It is important to recognize that both the Foundation Board and the Hospital Board work together to ensure that Wilson Health continues to provide comprehensive, quality health care for our community.”

Tonya Thieman then invited Mark Dooley, President and CEO of Wilson Health, since June 2014 to the podium.

Dooley recognized Bonnie Faulkner for her many years of service to Wilson Health Foundation as its first Executive Director for nearly nineteen years and offered examples of her accomplishments and state-wide involvement.  One of the most notable achievements in her career at Wilson is the successful capital campaign to build the Copeland-Emerson Family Birth Center and the Francis Women’s Center.  She also served as President of the Ohio Association for Healthcare Philanthropy – a statewide organization for development executives in non-profit hospitals and health-related institutions.  She has also been an active member of community organizations.  Faulkner was presented with a floral bouquet by Harry Faulkner and a gift from Wilson Health.

Guests received a CD of their personal photo session by Todd B. Acker Photography as a memento of the evening.
