2008 Golf Classic Highlights

The 14th annual Wilson Memorial Hospital Foundation Golf Classic was held July 14 at Shelby Oaks Golf Club in Sidney. The event netted nearly $53,000, which will be used for the Foundation’s endowment fund to benefit the patients of Wilson Memorial Hospital.

188 golfers played in the event that was corporately supported by six Titanium sponsors: Advanced Composites, Inc.; Dale Peterson and Associates, Inc.; Embarq; Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc.; NK Parts Industries, Inc; and Premier Health Care Services, Inc. The event attracted a total of 58 sponsors.

Contest winners included: Jeannie Bosslet, closest-to-the-pin, won a trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina; Darren Caywood and Brent Phillips tied in the putting contest, splitting the $450 reward. Prizes were also awarded to Jeff Smelcer and Rick Williams for the longest drives. Longest putt winners were Terri Jacomet and Greg Page. Pat Elsass made a hole-in-one shot on hole 3 south. It was the first time in the history of the Wilson golf outing and the second time that Pat had achieved such a feat – both at Shelby Oaks Golf Club.

Overall first place winners of the event included: Mike DeBois, Mike Marino, Mike Novelli and Dave Weston of the Aultra Administrative Group team; second place included: Ernie Vibbert, Jerry Stammen, Pat Elsass and David Voisard of the Vibbert team; third place winners were Clara Keister, Rhonda Keister, Jeff Raible and Dawn Eilert; fourth place included: Scott Koenig, Aubrey Winkler, Batty May and David Morrisey of the KeyBridge team. A $1,000 prize for SKINS winners were the UBS and Vibbert teams. Denny Rolfes won a free sleep study from the Wilson Memorial Hospital cardiopulmonary department.

All golfers received various gift items and door prizes. A raffle of premium, donated items was held. Donors for those prizes included: Sidney Electric; Sidney Holiday Inn; Wilson Memorial Hospital Occupational Health Services; National City Bank; Emerson Climate Technologies; Sidney Comfort Inn; Sollman Electric; Kings Island; SMS proTECH; Cincinnati Reds; Wilson Memorial Hospital Imaging Department; The Medicine Shoppe; Corporate Express; Hansbarger’s; App Architecture; Shelby Oaks; Elsass, Wallace, Evans and Schnelle; Hampton Inn Sidney; Freshway Foods; Cal Jones; and Piqua Country Club.

37 volunteers also helped make the event a successful event and enjoyable day.
