Light Up A Life Ceremony 2013

Thursday, September 19, 2013 - 8:00pm

This year’s Light Up A Life celebration will announce the Angel Fund recently established through the generosity of the Turkeyfoot Benefit Crew.

Rev. Phil Chilcote, Chaplain and the Bereavement Coordinator for Wilson Hospice, is excited about the fund and the additional ability to provide assistance to Wilson Hospice patients.

He stated, “This is a wonderful program to the enable us to deepen the level of compassionate care that we provide to our patients at this critical time in their lives.  Enhancing the quality of their lives is what Wilson Hospice is all about!”

This year the program will center on the theme “We Believe in Angels” and will focus on Caregivers as Angels, Family and Friends are Angels, and the Divine presence of Angels.  As in the past, the program will conclude with the opportunity for everyone present to light a candle in memory of his or her loved one.

The Angel Fund is a new fund which enables the Hospital to assist Wilson Hospice patients and their caregivers with an immediate need and is specifically intended to improve the quality of life for patients who are living with life-limiting illness.

Sometimes, due to economic constraints, the situations in which our Hospice patients and caregivers find themselves require additional support to maintain a reasonable level of dignity, self-respect, and basic life needs beyond medical care.

The Angel Fund will assist Wilson Hospice in making that additional support available as well as provide the best possible care for our patients and caregivers.  There are specific qualifying requirements in order to receive financial assistance from the Angel Fund.  The staff of Wilson Hospice will facilitate the application process to request funds.

The Angel Fund will be announced as part of the upcoming Wilson Hospice Light Up a Life Celebration on Sunday, October 20 at The Cameo Theatre with pre-service fellowship beginning at 1:00 pm.   The Light Up A Life Celebration begins at 2:00 p.m.  Refreshments will be served.

Please join us and light a candle in honor or memory of your loved one.
